Experimenting with line and other mediums

Hey everyone! For this piece I have been doing a little experimenting myself with fineliner and water. I started off with a very light pencil sketch of what I wanted to draw, which I always find helps me draw a bit more confidently. Once I had the basic shapes of what I wanted; I started to shade it in with my fineliner (0.5) using fine quick strokes, not pressing to hard and then gradually began to crosshatch. I worked into the areas I wanted the darkest this is where I could be begin to press slightly harder and crosshatch closer together. When it comes to adding water I find it best to add a little at a time, so you begin to have a better idea of what effect you want to achieve rather than adding it all at once and perhaps not getting what you wanted. Adding water really helps with shading and smoothing out some of the crosshatching, you can also come back to it with the fineliner which I find can give you some pretty interesting results.

This picture below was just a really easy experiment on Photoshop, I just inverted it but I think can give a really different feel to the original picture.

This is just another very quick and simple play around with the colour balence on photoshop, which is good for seeing what colours work best on your piece.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read, we would love to hear your tips and tricks as well as your feedback! Feel free to drop us a message.
