Whenever I am stuck for ideas I find doodling can be great way to generate inspiration, it's a great way to explore things like colour and experimentation without having any boundaries. I think it is also a good thing to be able to draw for yourself; remember why you love drawing and if you come up with a few ideas on the way that's just a bonus!
The picture below is a A4 doodle page I've done with fineliner (0.5) and Promarkers, I enjoyed drawing it from beginning to end because I felt no burden of " oh crap this is going to get a bad mark " or " oh man the client is going to kill me". Now this doesn't mean I don't like my job infact I love it, I just think it's always good to better yourself and experiment as much as you can. Whilst drawing this I experiemented with things such as overlaying colour, seeing what effects I could get from my promarkers (without relying on a blender) so either pressing harder or lighter and playing around with thick end of my pens to create a more brushy effect. Doodling for me can really losen up my hands, now i'm not saying everytime I doodle I come up with amazing ideas but it's just a great place to start. - A :)
