Hello everyone!
This week I have chosen to do a post on very inspirational, influential and powerful Pakistani women's and children's activist Malala Yousafzai. At only 12 when the Taliban began to attack girl's schools she gave a speech called " How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?" and about a year later she began blogging about living under constant threats from the Taliban for the BBC under a false name Gul Makai. In 2011 she was awarded the International Children's Peace Prize and Pakistan's National Youth Peace Prize. During 2012, at the age of just 15 Malala Yousafzai was on the bus on the way home from school when she was shot in the head by a masked gunman just for speaking out about a woman's right to education. Malala Yousafzai was left in critical condition but survived and after a long recovery she still advicates women's rights to education,at 17 she received the Nobel Peace prize which also makes her the youngest person to ever receive one and even has her own day 'Malala Day' which falls on her birthday.
I think she is a more than deserving real life heroine and I have tried to depict her as such!
For this piece I was very much inspired by Roy Lichenstein's style and used Letraset Promakers, Fineliner (0.5). Let us know who inspires you!
