Hello everyone!
This week we will be directing our focus onto old myths, legends, folklore and fairy tales passed down through the ages. We will be drawing things from Greek mythology to old grizzly fairy tales or old legends like Atlantis and the fountain of youth. For this first post of the week, I directed my research at Mythical monsters. I have always been facinated more with the scary and macabre side to ancient myths, but most particularly ancient Greek myths.
The monster I have illustrated is Greek Mythical creature Echnidna (not to be confused with the adorable hedgehog like creature) also known as The Mother Of Monsters. She is known as The Mother of Monsters because she gave birth to most of the Greek Mythical creatures, some of her children include Medusa and Cerberus (the three headed dog). I think it's interesting how the serpent is always a figure of evil or repesents it in so many myths, novels...I mean look at Harry Potter.
